Who: Students

What: Will have 2 days less of school

When: In the 2010-2011 school year

Where: New York

Why: Because Rosh Hashana falls the 2 days right after the 1st day of school

Summary: In the school year of 2010-2011, students of New York will have a 2 day vacation, right after the 1st day of school which is September 8th, because the Jewish holiday of Rosh Hashana falls on the 2 days right after. This happens because of the quirks of the lunar calendar meshing with its Gregorian counterpart, if it werent for this the Jewish holiday would have fallen in late September. =) Good for the teachers, now they will have a full prepared week on the 13th, and will spend the 1st day explaining all the rules and class materials.
